Hagan Waves Off Reporter, Refuses To Answer Questions About Obamacare
Raleigh, NC – Kay Hagan is once again refusing to talk about her support for Obamacare. When Politico asked Kay Hagan about Obamacare yesterday, she twice “waved off” a reporter and declined to answer:
- “Vulnerable members of the president’s party appeared to run from questions about it Wednesday. Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) — one of the Senate’s most vulnerable incumbents — twice waved off a reporter’s questions.” (Jake Sherman, Burgess Everett, “Florida loss exposes Democrats’ disarray on Obamacare,” Politico, 3/12/14)
Hagan has been ducking questions about Obamacare since exchanges officially opened last October.
Last month, at a media event to announce her re-election campaign, Hagan literally ran out of the building to avoid answering reporters’ questions about when she found out that Obamacare would cause cancellations.
- “But the details about what Hagan knew about the law’s limits and when she learned it remains unclear. Asked about it again Monday at a press conference in Raleigh, after she made her re-election bid official at the State Board of Elections, Hagan avoided the question. Pressed on the question two more times as reporters followed her outside to the parking lot, Hagan did not answer.’” (John Frank, “Hagan makes re-election bid official, dodges health care,” Raleigh News & Observer, 2/24/14)
Hagan has also been declining interview requests, as her office did last month when invited by WFMY News 2 to go on-camera to discuss health care reform.
- “I do want to tell you, in fairness, WFMY News 2 asked his [Burr’s] counterpart Kay Hagan to also talk with us [about health care reform]. Her office declined.” (WFMY News 2, 2/21/14)
“It’s abundantly clear that Kay Hagan’s re-election strategy is to wave off reporters, refuse to answer questions about her liberal record, and to ignore the people of North Carolina,” said North Carolina Republican Party Executive Director Todd Poole. “With Hagan’s polling numbers in free fall, she apparently hasn’t gotten the memo that North Carolinians are fed up with her constant refusal to take any accountability for casting the deciding vote for Obamacare and voting for Obama’s failed agenda 96 percent of the time.”
