Kay Hagan, Call Your Office
Hagan’s Website Still Promises You Can Keep Your Health Care Plan Under Obamacare More Than Three Months After Millions Received Cancellation Notices
Raleigh, NC – Kay Hagan’s official Senate website still promises that North Carolinians “who like their health insurance and doctors will keep them” under Obamacare.
“Individuals and employers who like their health insurance and doctors will keep them.” (Kay Hagan U.S. Senate website, “Health Care Facts,” accessed 1/27/14)
Millions of Americans, including over 500,000 North Carolinians, have received cancellation notices informing them that their current health insurance plans would be terminated because of regulations in Obamacare.
Hagan has still refused to apologize or even acknowledge the fact that she lied to North Carolinians at least 24 times.
Her oft-repeated broken promise was named the “Lie of the Year” for 2013 by PolitiFact.
“It’s astonishing that to this day Kay Hagan continues to lie to North Carolinians about Obamacare,” said North Carolina Republican Party spokesman Daniel Keylin. “Even after millions of American received cancellation notices, Hagan apparently didn’t think it was important enough to remove the false promise from her official Senate website. Does Kay Hagan ever intend to stop deceiving her constituents and finally apologize for her lies about Obamacare?
Hagan Has Refused To Apologize Or Even Acknowledge Her Repeated Lies To North Carolinians About Obamacare.
“State Republicans say Senator Hagan should be held accountable for promises she made about the Affordable Care Act…Tonight, she is issuing no apologies.” (Heather Waliga, “Could Hagan feel effects of President’s apology?,” WTVD, 11/8/13).
Hagan Has Also Refused To Say When She Discovered That Obamacare Would Result In Cancellations.
“ABC11 asked Hagan about the infamous promise that the public could keep their health insurance if they wanted, but she ducked the question more than once, blaming insurance companies instead.” (“Hagan on defensive over healthcare fallout,” ABC11, 11/25/13)
Instead Of Taking Responsibility For Her Lies, Hagan Falsely Blamed Insurance Companies For The Cancellations.
“I think you look back at the insurance companies. For three years, sold these policies without telling the consumer they would have to be canceled.” (Kay Hagan, ABC11, 11/25/13)
PolitiFact Noted That Hagan’s Phony Excuse Was A Lie Too.
“First, they [Democrats] tried to shift blame to insurers. ‘FACT: Nothing in #Obamacare forces people out of their health plans,’ said Valerie Jarrett, a top adviser to Obama, on Oct. 28. PolitiFact rated her statement False. The restrictions on grandfathering were part of the law, and they were driving cancellations.” (PolitiFact, “Lie of the Year: ‘If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,’” 12/12/13)
