Linda Daves  | Chairman

Linda DavesLinda Daves was elected Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party in December of 2006 after being elected Vice Chairman of the Party in May 1999-2005. Prior to serving the North Carolina Republican Party, she served in several positions in the Mecklenburg County Republican Party including serving four years as Chairman after two years as Vice Chairman. Chairman Daves is also a Committee on Arrangements Member, 2008 Republican National Convention.

Linda has worked in numerous campaigns over the years to elect Republicans. In 2000 she was the Mecklenburg County Chairman for George W. Bush for President and the Victory 2000 phone bank coordinator. She also coordinated the Mecklenburg County's regional phone bank to elect U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole in 2002. At the 2004 Republican National Convention, Linda represented North Carolina on the Platform Committee and served as the North Carolina “Compassion Across America” community service drive coordinator.

Linda's past work experience includes teaching junior and senior high school for six years after college. She was the Vice President of a family owned textile business for fourteen years. For the past seven years she has spent her time managing her and her husband Carson's rental properties in Charlotte.

Linda’s hobbies include travel, camping, and being an active member of the Central Church of God in Charlotte.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a MEd from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Linda says that if there were one idea she could impart to all Republicans it would be "One person can make a difference."

David A. Sawyer | Vice Chairman

David SawyerDavid Sawyer is an attorney from the Western Mountains of North Carolina, and has risen through the ranks in the North Carolina Republican Party. He was first elected Chairman of the Swain County Republican Party in 1993, and was re-elected to that position in 1995. In 1997, he was elected Vice Chair of the Eleventh Congressional District Republican Party, a position which he held for five years. Thereafter, in 2002, he became Chairman of the Eleventh District Republican Party, and was elected to that post again in 2003 and 2005. During that time, he served as Chair of the NCGOP Plan of Organization Committee for several years, and as a member of the Plan and Credentials Committees before that.

David’s involvement with Republican Party candidates has also been wide and varied. He has served as county or regional coordinator for a number of State and Federal Campaigns since 1993, including those of Senators Faircloth, Dole and Burr. He also served as District Chairman for Victory 2004 and as County Chair for several campaigns for State office.

David is a graduate of the University of Michigan - Dearborn Honor’s Program with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics. He also received a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University in 1985. He is a member of several corporate boards of directors and is a firefighter with his local volunteer fire department.

David Lewis | National Committeeman

National Committeeman LewisRep. Lewis is currently serving in his third term in the N.C. House of Representatives District 53. He is, or has been, a member of the Committees on Agriculture, Education, Education Sub-Committee on Community Colleges, Election Law and Campaign Finance Reform, Finance, Insurance and Transportation, and the Aging Commission.

Rep. Lewis is a graduate of Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science in Business of Administration where he also served two terms as student body president. He has been married to his wife Michelle for the past eight years. Together they have three children: David Ray, Henry Pierce, and Tillie Christine.

Rep. Lewis has faithfully served the Republican Party for over a decade. His service to the NCGOP includes these roles: Precinct Chair, Averasboro III, Harnett County GOP, 1993-94, Convention Chairman, New Hanover County GOP, 1997, North Carolina Republican Party, 2nd Congressional District Secretary, 1997, North Carolina Republican Party, 2nd Congressional District chairman, 1998-2002, Central Committee, NCGOP, 1998-2002, State Representative, NC House District 53, 2003-present.

Rep. David Lewis has also proven to be a committed community servant. He has served as a member of the Angier, Coats, Dunn, Erwin, Lillington, and Western Harnett Chambers of Commerce, the Central Carolina Community College Harnett County Small Business Advisory Board and the Greater Dunn Jaycees who honored him with their “Distinguished Service Award”. He is also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Joan Fleming | Secretary

Joan Fleming was re-elected secretary of the North Carolina Republican Party in May 2005. She served previously as NCGOP Assistant Secretary before taking the Secretary position in 2001.
