RALEIGH—Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party, made the following statement regarding Senator John McCain securing enough delegates to become the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee:

“I am proud to congratulate Senator John McCain on securing the Republican Presidential nomination.  Senator McCain has dedicated his life to defending our country and the values we hold dear throughout his distinguished military career and admirable public service.  John McCain is a common sense conservative who is ready to be Commander-in-Chief and keep our nation secure.  He also has the right ideas about keeping our economy strong by keeping taxes low and cutting wasteful spending, about making sure health care is affordable for all Americans through private solutions and not massive new government bureaucracies, and about protecting traditional values by appointing judges who will uphold the law and not try to legislate from the bench.  Senator McCain is a true American hero and his leadership at the top of our ticket will help us to elect Republicans across the state.  North Carolina has cast its votes for a Republican President in each election year since 1980.  We look forward to continuing that tradition this November and helping to make John McCain the next President of the Unites States.”
