WITH CLINTON’S PLANS, WE PAY THE PRICE

RALEIGHSenator Hillary Clinton traveled to North Carolina today to give a speech about the economy at Wake Technical Community College and campaign across the state.

In her speech at Wake Tech today, Clinton unveiled a new $12.5 billion dollar federal program aimed at job training, promised to create a big bureaucracy for government-run health care, and threatened free trade with a renegotiation of NAFTA.

In the past, Senator Clinton has said of her ideas.  “I have a million ideas.  The country can’t afford them all.”  (Marcella Bombardieri, "Clinton Vows To Check Executive Power," The Boston Globe, 10/11/07)

Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party, made the following statement:

“Senator Clinton proved in her speech today that her understanding of the economy is rooted in only two things: tax and spend.  While Senator Clinton claims she will only raise taxes on the wealthy to fund her proposals, her support of the Democrat budget in the Senate proves she is willing to raise taxes on individuals earning just $31,850 and couples earning only $63,700.  This election provides a clear choice.  John McCain offers a common sense agenda to cut taxes, eliminate wasteful government spending, and get our economy back on track.  However, Senators Clinton and Obama have allied themselves with the failed liberal policies of the past that lock down the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit that has always grown our economy, created jobs and expanded opportunity for the American people.  Senator Clinton claims to be working in the interests of the middle class, but with each new idea and proposed government program, we know who will be stuck footing the bill.”
