Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party, made the following statement:

“After we released our ‘Extreme’ television ad this week, Jerry Meek and other North Carolina Democrats shamelessly tried to inject race into the debate about our ad.  As I have said from the beginning, our ad asks a serious and legitimate question about the judgment of Democrat gubernatorial candidates Beverly Perdue and Richard Moore.  It has absolutely nothing to do with race.  Judgment is one of the single most important issues when deciding on a candidate whose decisions will affect the lives and pocketbooks of millions of North Carolinians.  We are still waiting for Beverly Perdue and Richard Moore to respond to our questions.

Now we see that Jerry Meek is not the only Democrat trying to inject race into the campaign.  Richard Moore has released a racially-tinged ad aimed at his opponent in the primary.  We have stood firmly against the injection of race into this discussion and have reiterated again and again our focus on the issue of judgment.  Shame on you, Jerry Meek.  Clean up your own house before you tell us how to run ours.”
