REPUBLICANS MAKE NOMINATION FOR
NORTH CAROLINA HOUSE DISTRICT 67
RALIEGH—Republican leaders from North Carolina House District 67 met Tuesday night in Albermarle to recommend a nomination for their vacant seat in the General Assembly. Members of the County Executive Committees residing within District 67 in Stanly, Montgomery, and Union counties were eligible to vote on the nomination. The votes were weighted according to the total population from each county residing within District 67. Republicans chose Ken Furr of Albermarle for the nomination.
Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party made the following statement:
“Republicans were reminded Tuesday night of the importance of getting involved in local government. I was very encouraged to see Republicans from three counties with diverse interests come together to choose among three excellent candidates who felt a call toward public service. Republicans have made a wise nomination in selecting Ken Furr. Mr. Furr has already distinguished himself as a public servant as former chairman of both the Stanly County Board of Commissioners and the county Economic Development Commission. I know he will serve the interests of the people of District 67 with honor and integrity.
I will send a letter to Governor Easley immediately nominating Ken Furr to the District 67 seat of the North Carolina House of Representatives. I trust the Governor will expedite the nomination process in order to ensure the people of District 67 have someone to represent them in Raleigh as quickly as possible.”
