CHAIRMAN DAVES TO NC DEMOCRATS:
DENOUNCE MALICIOUS MOVEON.ORG AD

RALEIGH—Chairman Linda Daves, North Carolina Republican Party, issued the following statement calling on North Carolina Democrats to denounce the MoveOn.org attack ad in today’s New York Times attacking General David Petraeus and America’s military.

“I have sent a letter today to each of our North Carolina Congressional Democrats asking them to denounce MoveOn.org’s malicious attack on General Petraeus and our nation’s troops immediately.

“After trying unsuccessfully to choke off funding for American soldiers and micromanage our commanders on the ground, this radical left-wing organization has resorted to launching slanderous assaults on our nation’s brave men and women who are fighting the War on Terrorism.  The leaders of MoveOn.org are not just against the War in Iraq or the War on Terrorism.  They are against any use of American military force to defend our interests and protect the homeland.  The values of MoveOn.org are too liberal for North Carolina.

“The question remains: Will North Carolina Democrats finally denounce this repugnant defamation of America’s troops, or will they bow to the liberal extremists that have taken control their Party?

“MoveOn.org is attacking General Petraeus and our troops because they do not want to see the surge strategy lead to victory in Iraq.  The leaders behind MoveOn.org believe only defeat in Iraq can secure partisan political gain for Democrats.  We should not play politics with our troops lives.  Instead, we should listen to what General Petraeus and our military commanders have to say about the progress in Iraq.  Are North Carolina Democrats going to stand with our troops and the people of North Carolina or are they going to stand with George Soros and MoveOn.org?  The choice is theirs to make.”
