97 Days

My friends, we are 97 DAYS away from re-electing Richard Burr to the U.S. Senate. 97 days away from electing a majority of Republicans to the US House. 97 days away from electing a majority of Republicans to the NC Senate and the NC House for the first time since 1898. 97 days away from electing the first Republican woman—Barbara Jackson—to the NC Supreme Court. 97 is an important number!

Your contribution of $97, or just $1 per day for the remainder of the election season, will help us make sure Republicans re-elect Senator Burr, win the majority in the NC House and Senate, and retain our majority on the NC Supreme Court. Your contributions fuel our statewide strategy to win through grassroots activism, voter registration programs, and get-out-the vote efforts. We intend to turn North Carolina into a SOLID RED state in 2010!

Democrats have spent us into a deficit. Just a few short years ago, we had a surplus in our state coffers. Democrats have increased the size of government from $13.9 billion to $20.5 billion in just 7 short years! Now, we are facing a $4 billion shortfall in state revenues in 2011.

Democrats have created the highest tax rates in the Southeast to pay for all of their spending. North Carolina has the highest tax rates in:

·         Corporate Taxes
·         Personal Income Taxes
·         Sales Taxes (with the exception of Tennessee which has no Personal Income Tax)
·         Gasoline Taxes

No wonder our unemployment rate has risen from 4.5% to 11+% in just two years! And when Democrats tout their job-creation rate, they are not bragging about real job growth. All those new jobs are government jobs! The ratio of government jobs to private sector jobs has grown over the last 8 years.

If you want real change, jump on the Republican band wagon. We are steamrolling ahead and will not stop till we take the majority in the fall. With your help, we will PUT A STOP to overspending, overtaxing, and increasing government to the detriment of private business! Remember, $97 for our next 97 days to victory!

Runoff Elections on June 22

On Tuesday, June 22nd, the questions will be answered and our journey toward victory this fall will truly begin.  We will know which candidates will represent not only the Republican Party on the ballots in the fall, but their opponents as well.  With runoffs in many different races, including the 8th, 12th and 13th congressional districts, it is imperative that you go out and support your candidate.
The following Republican races will have runoffs on Tuesday:

8th Congressional District: Harold Johnson vs Tim D’Annunzio
12th Congressional District: Scott Cumbie vs Greg Dority
13th Congressional District: Bill Randall vs Bernie Reeves

Part of running an effective campaign is hosting fundraisers and events.  These events are essential to a candidate running for elected office.  Not only does it help to raise money, but it gives constituents and supporters a chance to meet with candidates.  Take the opportunity to meet your candidates and to show them your support by attending fundraisers and voting!

One Team. One Goal. Victory.

Passion Equals Victory

This past weekend, the 2010 NCGOP Convention marked the beginning of a new era for Republican politics in North Carolina. Held in Winston Salem, over 800 delegates and guests attended the program throughout the weekend. Highlighted by phenomenal speeches by Senator Richard Burr and others, the party has a lot of momentum heading into the summer and fall election season. After the primary run-offs are held in just 12 days, we will have our final candidates and know our opponents. We will know which big government candidate will face off with Richard Burr (unsuccessfully) for a Senate seat that no candidate has held for more than one term in many years. Once this date passes, campaigning will continue on full swing until voting day on November 2nd.

This is a historic year for North Carolina Republican politics. We have a chance to take back a majority in the NC House and Senate for the first time in over 100 years. In order for this to happen, it will take a lot of work. It will take passion; not only from the candidates, but from their supporters and volunteers. It will take countless hours of phone calls, and many nights spent out campaigning. How should you get involved? We challenge you to do two things:

1.)    Join the Burr Campaign- make phone calls, send mailers, and put a sign on your car and in your yard. Go to www.burrhq.com to sign up today!

2.)    Volunteer for one other campaign- whether it is a local candidate running for County Commissioner, or a candidate running for State Senate. These candidates need your support.

It’s time the Republican Party stand up for what is right in North Carolina. When November 2nd arrives, voters will make their choices. Passion will decide who is in control of the North Carolina government come redistricting time.   Only the most passionate candidates will win; only the candidates with passionate people behind them will be victorious. Go out and become PASSIONATE about this year’s election and help bring North Carolina back to where it belongs, in the hands of its citizens.

Voting Has Begun!

It’s still several weeks to Primary Election Day, but voting has already begun here in North Carolina. Almost 14,000 North Carolinians have already requested vote-by-mail (absentee) ballots, and One-Stop early voting will begin in less than ten days.

To request a vote-by-mail ballot, you must send a handwritten request to your county Board of Elections (click here for a list: http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/content.aspx?id=13) with the following information:

 Voter’s full name

 Voter’s address of registration

 Voter’s mailing address (if different than registered address)

 Voter’s date of birth

 Voter’s signature (or signature of near relative, indicating relationship with voter)

All requests must be received by Tuesday, April 27th.

The Board of Elections will mail a ballot to the address you provide, and you can return your completed ballot up to 5:00 pm on Monday, May 3rd.

If you’d rather vote in person, but want to vote early, One-Stop Early Voting begins on Thursday, April 15th. You can vote early at locations all around the state until Saturday, May 1st. For a list of One-Stop Early Voting locations, you can click here:  http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/GetDocument.aspx?id=2271.

With so many opportunities to vote, there is no reason not to make sure your voice is heard and your vote is counted!

If you have any questions about voting by mail or Early Voting, you can contact the North Carolina Republican Party for more information.
